Post-its = pixels?

by Lisa on August 29, 2007

It would seem so, judging from this art installation by David Alvarez, depicting Ray Charles.Ties into a project I’ve been wanting to get to: making art out of paint chips (and then animating it…)

Musing on the Mix

by Lisa on November 27, 2005

Fun article in the Sunday Trib, musing on the easy-to-burn mix CD versus the compile-in-real-time mix tape:

“You used to feel there was a real act of devotion in creating it that just isn’t there anymore.”

On my iPod

Rob Thomas’ solo effort, Something to Be.

It’s been biffed a bit critically, the suggestion being that he poses in some of the tunes, but I find it for the most part a good extension of the sound that he showed us when he collaborated with Santana on Smooth.

Art Attack

by Lisa on March 23, 2005

I have to admire this fellow Banksy. Vandalism, shmandalism. He recently donned a false beard and trenchcoat and boldly installed his own works in four major New York museums. Click through here to see the images. I can’t decide if the discount soup can or the insect (scientific name "withus oragainstus") is my favorite.

Visual

by Lisa on December 18, 2004

I’ve been very focused on images lately. I’m trying to sort through a mountain of photos, because that would be a Good Thing, to have them sorted, and I’m trying to extract some of my better compositions, because I’ve neglected my art. (Plus, I’m keeping my eye open for giftable pics, as well.)

I end up on long sidetracks, as I finally go through about a 150 snapshots of our Florida vacation from three years ago. Most of the shots look just like anybody’s Florida vacation. And then there’s the odd, special one, that lets you feel the sunshine:

Basking in it.
